Here's a few suggestions for making your evening successful:

Care more about the person sitting across from you than you do about yourself.

If you are sitting across from someone wondering whether they like you, whether you like them, whether they will think you are smart or pretty or handsome or if you have put enough quarters into the parking meter, you really don't have enough energy (or brain cells!) left to care about them. Even the most caring people will fall into this trap if they are worried about how they "show up" to another person. Take a deep breath and relax. Chances are, whoever is sitting across from you has the same worries you do.

Act as though you have nothing to lose.

You're here for a great adventure. The fate of the western world isn't at stake, nor is the fate of the rest of your life. If you are "in the moment," experiencing fully whatever is happening, we promise you you'll have a wonderful experience!

Smile and make eye contact.

It's the most powerful form of connection you can have with anybody. The longer you do it, the closer you feel to them.

Leave your baggage at home.

Very few people want to hear about your miserable divorce, your too high or too low alimony payments, or your rotten boss. Instead of complaining about your life, be positive and try caring about the life of the person seated across from you.

Ask open-ended questions.

You aren't interviewing someone for a job or to be a contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Your purpose is to find out all the wonderful, fascinating things about the person seated across from you. If you do that, chances are they will come away from the session thinking YOU are a wonderful, fascinating person.

Be "at stake".

This means be totally, completely 100% responsible for your experience with the person seated across from you. Remember, you create your own experience in life. If you come away from your six minutes thinking "that person was really boring," it simply means you created that. We know that's a tough concept to get, and we hear your brain screaming "but...". No "buts" about it: you can have a great six minutes with anyone if that's what you set out to create.

Trust the experts (did we mention that's us?)!

We love to be experts! If you are committed to following all these suggestions and be totally responsible for your own experience, you will have a wonderful evening.
